An Emmy-Nominated actress and writer, Alex Borstein is a multi-hyphenate talent who is best known for voicing Lois Griffin on the FOX mega-hit "Familt Guy," playing the hilarious and unforgettable Ms. Swan on "MADtv" and most recently for her role as Dawn Forchette in the critically-acclaimed HBO live-action drama, "Getting On."  "Getting On" comes from the creators of "Big Love" and is based on the British hit (also named "Getting On") set in the women's extended-care facility of a Long Beach hospital.  "Getting On" follows the daily lives of put-upon nurses and doctors as they struggle with the darkly comic realities of caring for the elderly in an overwhelmed healthcare system.  The show also co-stars Niecy Nash and Laurie Metcalf and recently wraps it second season on Sunday, November 14.  On the film front, Alex was recently seen in Seth MacFarlane’s "A Million Ways To Die in The West" as Millie, the madam in the town’s brothel. The film pays homage to the traditional Western with a modern comedic spin and was released by Universal in May of 2014.  In the summer of 2012, Alex also appeared in MacFarlane’s directorial debut "Ted," also released by Universal.  The film became the highest-grossing original R-rated film of all time, bringing in $545 million dollars world-wide. Previously, Alex appeared opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Scott Frank's "The Lookout," in "KiIllers," alongside Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher, "Bad Santa" with Billy Bob Thornton and in "The Lizzie Mcguire Movie" with Hilary Duff.  Not just a comedic actress, Alex starred alongside George Clooney in the six-time Academy Award-nominated film "Good Night, and Good Luck."  Her role as Natalie also earned her a Screen Actor’s Guild nomination in the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in Motion Picture. The film was also nominated for a Golden Globe, BAFTA, and was awarded Movie of the Year by the American Film Institute. In addition to acting, Alex has served on several writing staffs including "Family Guy" and "MADtv."

Most recently, she wrote on the Showtime Emmy-Nominated series "Shameless" starring William H. Macy. Her one-woman stand-up show, "Drop Dead Gorgeous in a Down to Earth Bombshell Sort of Way,"  opened to rave reviews and currently sold on DVD.   Originally from Chicago, Borstein moved to Los Angeles at a young age. She graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Rhetoric. She started performing sketch comedy while in San Francisco and later joined the ACME Comedy Theatre in Los Angeles.
