Busy Philipps

Born in Oak Park, Ill on June 25, 1979 and raised in Scottsdale, AZ, actress Busy Philipps says she knew she wanted to act for as long as she can remember. At 18, she moved to Los Angeles to attend Loyola Marymount University and pursue acting as a career.

Currently she can be seen on the popular ABC comedy “Cougar Town” opposite Courteney Cox. Most recently, Philipps has been seen in stand out roles in the films “Made of Honor” and “He’s Just Not That Into You.”

With her memorable performance as tough but sympathetic rebel teen ‘Kim Kelly’ in the critically praised series, from Judd Apatow and Paul Feig, “Freaks and Geeks,” Busy Philipps crafted one of the most compelling young characters in contemporary television. At only 19, Philipps’ role in “Freaks and Geeks” did wonders for her exposure, regardless of the endearing show’s remarkably short lifespan, and in the years that followed, she continued to impress critics and fans in such features as “Anatomy of a Hate Crime,” “The Smokers” and “Home Room.” Many viewed Philipps’ involvement as a series regular on “Dawson’s Creek” as something of a breath of fresh air for the series, with simultaneous appearances in the “Freaks and Geeks” follow-up series “Undeclared” proving a welcome opportunity to work with old friends. In 2004, Philipps took a lead role in the Shawn and Marlon Wayans comedy “White Chicks.” In 2006, she starred in the UPN sitcom Love, Inc. from “Friends” showrunner Adam Chase. Following that show, she joined the cast of “ER” for one season as the devout Christian med- student ‘Hope Bobeck’. While 8 months pregnant with her first child in summer of 2008, Philipps filmed a 5-episode arc on “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

Ms. Philipps was married to screenwriter Marc Silverstein (“Never Been Kissed”) on June 2007 in a surprise ceremony. Friends and family were shocked when, thinking they were invited to a birthday party, Philipps showed up in a wedding dress and the couple got married on the spot. The couple has one child, Birdie Leigh Silverstein, born August 13, 2008.
